Prevention Workforce
The Department of Defense (DOD) and Military Services are building an integrated prevention workforce to reduce the prevalence of sexual assault, harassment, suicide, retaliation, domestic abuse, and child abuse. This approach focuses on addressing the shared risk and protective factors that affect all of these behaviors and promoting Service member wellbeing. Integrated prevention involves working hand-in-hand with leaders to promote cohesion and build inclusive, safe environments for Service members and their families. Positions in the DOD’s prevention workforce offer challenging opportunities for people with diverse educational backgrounds and work experiences, including public health, social science, behavioral health, communication, social work, or community health.
